WOOLGOOLGA CREEK PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

Nestled within endangered rainforest, this picnic spot offers more adventure than your typical barbecue destination. The 1.7-kilometre walk to Woolgoolga Creek waterfall becomes the main attraction, threading through pristine bushland where carpet pythons bask near the car park and native wildlife roams freely. Visitors navigate five stream crossings en route to the falls, requiring careful footwork to keep boots dry. The picnic area itself sits creekside with ample space for a kick-about, though the real drawcard remains the waterfall trek. Recent storm damage blocks the final 300 metres of track, but the journey through ancient forest compensates. Pack serious mosquito repellent - the local population shows no mercy. While swimming opportunities prove limited, the scenic walk rewards families seeking an authentic bushland barbecue experience beyond typical suburban facilities.
